Deventer explores connection to Hydrogen Network Netherlands
Hynetwork has developed a connection policy for parties that are interested in joining the national hydrogen network at an early stage. This allows market participants to investigate now whether they want to connect to the network in the future. The Municipality of Deventer, the Province of Overijssel, Firan Waterstof, and the Stedendriehoek region are jointly investigating a connection to the Hydrogen Network Netherlands.
This brings sustainable hydrogen closer to businesses in the region and that could enable the Eastern Netherlands and local hydrogen initiatives to connect to the national hydrogen network. As part of these agreements, Firan Waterstof submitted a Valve Study Agreement (VSA) to Hynetwork on behalf of the consortium in early July of this year.
A Valve Study Agreement is a preliminary study into a connection to the hydrogen network. By considering this connection at an early stage in the planning process, the need to make costly modifications to establish the connection at a later stage can be avoided.
Hydrogen is particularly important for sectors where electrification is challenging, such as industry and logistics. For these companies, regional hydrogen infrastructure can provide a sustainable alternative. By jointly investigating the requirements for connection now, Deventer, Apeldoorn, Zutphen, and the wider Stedendriehoek region are preparing for a future-proof energy system.
