How Hynetwork built the Hydrogen Network in Rotterdam
“…you can’t help but feel proud when you see that we have delivered something of such high quality in Rotterdam’s pipeline corridor.”
We are building the hydrogen network in the Netherlands step by step. Wherever possible, we make use of existing infrastructure, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and minimising our impact on the surrounding environment. In doing so, we are helping to ensure a reliable energy supply, both now and in the future.
We are pleased to share how we build. What does it take to deliver projects like these? What challenges do we face? And who are the people behind them? In this video, we look back on the work carried out in Rotterdam.
In the Botlek area of Rotterdam, we installed a 32-kilometre hydrogen pipeline connecting Maasvlakte 2 and Pernis. Project Manager Jan-Willem Rongen, Pipeline Engineer Jos van Ginneken, Network Operator Niels van Pagee, Environmental Manager Mark Berghuis and Site Supervisor Raymond Cohen share their experiences and insights.
How did we overcome the challenges we encountered in Rotterdam’s busiest pipeline corridor? How did we safely cross dozens of existing pipelines? And how did we prepare our people to operate and maintain a hydrogen network?
