Hydrogen outside the industrial clusters: “The more insight the better”
The HyRegions study was published on 30 May. Among other things, it reveals where a demand for hydrogen might arise and possibly become concentrated in the Netherlands outside the five industrial clusters. Read more(in Dutch).
Joost Hooghiem, Director of Hydrogen network Netherlands, responds: “It is essential to clarify the regional connection options for companies that cannot be directly connected to the national hydrogen network but want to use hydrogen. This creates a framework for action. We at Hynetwork are also pleased with the publication of this study; it’s a first step towards greater clarity for businesses in the region.”
“As a follow-up to the HyRegions study, we will work with regional grid operators to see which areas have the most hydrogen potential and exactly what the need is. We want to get a better idea of the kind of infrastructure these regions need, and we are looking at things like customer preferences and technical possibilities. Hynetwork pursues a future-oriented and robust approach based on need. That requires insight, and the more insight we have into the need for connections to the hydrogen network the better. The efficient connection of companies in the region benefits from companies uniting and joining forces with us where possible.”
